How to feed your body
You know alot has to be said about how we feed our bodies. Most people carry upon their day simply filling their stomachs with calories that have no positive effect on their physiques. Better still is the notion that if we simply diet we will lose fat. Notice here that I said fat and not weigtht? Whats the difference you ask? Well the difference is significant because muscle weighs more than fat and losing weight is not going to guarantee that you look better in those jeans or fill out that shirt with the desired affect.
We first have to understand that the goal for us is to lose that undesired body fat and put on lean muscle mass. In order to do so we have to use food as the essential building block to make this happen. Ask yourselves a simple question, how often do I eat and what do I eat? For you to have any chance of losing fat and that beer belly you need to have a well balanced meal schedule that consists of three solid meals breakfast, lunch and dinner and two or 3 light snacks in a day.
The first thing every person should do when they get up is have breakfast. By sleeping your body has used that time to rest and repair. No person should ever go 8 hours without food but since your body is in a hybernation mode it is not possible for you to eat. This is why Doctors and dieticians say that breakfast is the single most important meal of the day. Start your day off right make sure that you get your breakfast! Things like oatmeal and fruit or egg whites and toast are all great choices to fill your calorie needs.
Depending on what time you get up lunch should range any where from 4 to 4.5 hours after breakfast. It is important not to cheat yourself of a clean healthy meal. I will be first one to admit that sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day and working 9-5 makes lunch a hassle. Most of us run over to the local fast food restaurant just to grab something quick and get back so we can finish our work. But the real question is why? How hard would it be for you to make a healthy lunch the night before. Or if you are forced to go out and grab food stay away from the burgers and fries, your not doing your body and favors filling it with sodium and saturated fats throw in the refined carbs and you are looking at a recipe for disaster. Make the smarter choice when ordering lunch. Some sort of grilled chicken with no sauce and maybe brown rice or a salad with vingarette on the side.
For some reason I can never make it to dinner without a snack in between. And if you are like me then this is the perfect time for you to get munching. Make sure that your snack consists of fruit or veggies stay away from the chips and other snack foods your might find in a vending machine.
Dinner has got to be my favourite meal of the day. Your back at home relaxing from your day and the only thing left to do is eat and sleep, really what more could you ask for (ok maybe a million in cash). Make sure that your dinner consist of protein, veggies and carbhoydrates. The right choice would be something boneless skinless chicken breast, broccoli and half a sweet potato. This would be a well balanced meal. The trick here is to use your common sense. Dont make deep fried chicken, cheese whiz and broccoli and mashed potatos.
If after dinner you are still feeling a little hungry you can fill that void with some fruit. The sugars in the fruit will kill that craving and give your body some essential minerals that it needs.
This should be used just as a basic guideline and you may need to do some trial and errors as to what will work best for you.
